Desirae is the proud owner of Designerae LLC, a salon that focuses on healthy hair and locs. Founded in 2015, The Designerae brand has become synonymous with quality and integrity. Using nothing but the best in natural products and providing quality personal service. 

Desirae’s personal mission is to serve, educate, and empower others to reach their destiny—which aligns with everything she does. This mission starts at home, as she is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Natasha and Kamara. Desirae’s goal as a stylist is to educate and inform clients about the uniqueness of their hair.

Desirae is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. She holds an artist diploma in Costume Design from The School for Creative and Performing Arts. After high school, Desirae relocated to Chicago, Illinois. There she studied at Loyola University Chicago, earning dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Entrepreneurship and Black World Studies. Immediately following her academic success at Loyola, Desirae attended Pivot Point International, where she studied Cosmetology.

Upon her return to Cincinnati in 2013, she began her career in the hair world a few years after. Originally focusing solely on healthy hair, Desirae fell in love with the versatility and beauty of natural hair. In 2017 she shifted her business to only serving individuals with natural hair and locs. Over time the demand for those who sought after her loc services overpowered her business. In 2023 Designerae became a salon that focuses exclusively on locs. 

Desirae credits initially learning about locs at Christian Fields Salon on the southside of Chicago in 2010. She learned alongside her cousin Aaron Futel as he guided her into the trade. She has since had many mentors to study various techniques as it relates to the field; notably the famous Kris McDred!  Desirae loves what she does and looks to empower and educate others to become locticians.
